Intrinsically disordered protein

An intrinsically disordered protein lacks a single stable three-dimensional structure under physiological conditions. It instead occupies a shifting ensemble of conformations, often enabling flexible interactions with other molecules.

Protein conformational ensemble: The collection of conformations a protein can occupy, along with their relative populations. Disorder describes a broad ensemble rather than one dominant folded structure.
