Ioannis Kapodistrias

Ioannis Kapodistrias was a Greek diplomat and statesman who served as the first governor of independent Greece from 1828 until his assassination in 1831.

Alexander Ypsilantis: A Greek military leader who headed the Filiki Eteria’s 1821 uprising in the Danubian Principalities. Kapodistrias opposed Ypsilantis’s premature revolt while serving Russia, fearing it would endanger the Greek cause.
