Irish Home Rule movement

The Irish Home Rule movement sought a domestic legislature for Ireland while keeping the country within the United Kingdom. It shaped Irish politics from the late nineteenth century until partition and independence.

Daniel O'Connell: Irish political leader who campaigned for Catholic emancipation and repeal of the 1801 Act of Union. His mass constitutional campaigns established tactics and a political tradition later adapted by Home Rule advocates.
