Iron(II) sulfide

Iron(II) sulfide is an inorganic compound with the formula FeS, composed of iron and sulfur. Its naturally occurring mineral form is troilite.

Canyon Diablo meteorite: The Canyon Diablo meteorite is an iron meteorite associated with the Barringer Crater in Arizona. Its troilite inclusions are a classic source for studying meteoritic FeS.
Iron(II): Iron(II) is iron in the +2 oxidation state. The name specifies the oxidation state assigned to iron in the compound.
Pyrrhotite: Pyrrhotite is a nonstoichiometric iron sulfide mineral, commonly represented by Fe₁₋ₓS. Unlike ideal FeS, pyrrhotite has iron vacancies and variable composition.
