Ismail Samani

Ismail Samani was the Samanid emir from 892 to 907. His rule strengthened the dynasty and established Bukhara as a major political and cultural center.

Samanid Empire: A Persianate dynasty that ruled parts of Central Asia and Iran from the ninth to tenth centuries. Ismail’s emirate became the strongest period of Samanid rule.
Bukhara: A historic city in present-day Uzbekistan that became a major center of Islamic scholarship and Persian literature. Ismail made Bukhara the Samanid capital and a focal point of his government.
