Israel Defense Forces

The state military of Israel, comprising its ground, air, and naval forces. It operates under civilian authority and is commonly abbreviated IDF.

Israeli military conscription: Israel's system of compulsory military service for eligible citizens, with exemptions and alternative arrangements. Conscription supplies much of the IDF's personnel and connects military service to Israeli society.
