J. B. Priestley

John Boynton Priestley (1894–1984) was an English novelist, playwright, broadcaster, and essayist whose work ranged from social drama to popular historical writing.

An Inspector Calls: A 1945 play in which Inspector Goole investigates the death of Eva Smith and exposes a prosperous family's shared responsibility. This is Priestley's most widely studied play and a clear example of his social criticism.
