J. Edgar Hoover

J. Edgar Hoover was an American law enforcement official who led the Federal Bureau of Investigation from its creation in 1935 until his death in 1972. His long tenure expanded the bureau’s power and made him a lasting figure in debates over surveillance and civil liberties.

Federal Bureau of Investigation Laboratory: The FBI facility that analyzes forensic evidence and supports investigations with scientific expertise. Hoover promoted forensic science as a means of strengthening the bureau’s investigative reputation.
