J. Hans D. Jensen

J. Hans D. Jensen was a German theoretical physicist who shared the 1963 Nobel Prize in Physics for developing the nuclear shell model.

Maria Goeppert Mayer: A German-American theoretical physicist who shared the 1963 Nobel Prize in Physics for developing the nuclear shell model. She independently developed the model that Jensen and his collaborators formulated in parallel.
Nuclear shell model: A model of atomic nuclei in which protons and neutrons occupy quantized energy levels. This is the theoretical framework for which Jensen received the Nobel Prize.
