Jack Northrop

Jack Northrop (1895–1981) was an American aircraft designer and entrepreneur who founded several aircraft companies, including Northrop Corporation, and championed flying-wing aircraft.

Flying wing: An aircraft configuration with no distinct fuselage or tail, integrating the payload and crew into its wing. Northrop spent decades trying to make this configuration practical for long-range aircraft.
Donald Douglas: An American aircraft manufacturer who founded the Douglas Aircraft Company. Northrop worked for Douglas early in his career, including on the Douglas World Cruiser.
Northrop P-61 Black Widow: A Northrop night fighter used by the United States Army Air Forces during World War II. It was Northrop Aircraft’s first production aircraft and a major wartime program.
