Knowra Jacopo Sansovino Jacopo Sansovino Jacopo Sansovino (1486–1570) was an Italian Renaissance architect and sculptor whose work helped shape the civic architecture of Venice, including the Library of Saint Mark’s and the Loggetta.
Renaissance architecture : European architecture from the 15th and 16th centuries that revived and adapted forms from ancient Rome. Sansovino brought Renaissance architectural language to Venice on a monumental civic scale.
Library of Saint Mark’s : A Renaissance library building on the south side of Piazza San Marco in Venice, designed by Sansovino. Its long, richly ornamented façade is among Sansovino’s defining architectural achievements.
