Jacques Monod

Jacques Monod (1910–1976) was a French biologist whose research on bacterial gene regulation helped establish the operon model. He shared the 1965 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine with François Jacob and André Lwoff.

François Jacob: François Jacob was a French biologist who helped develop the operon model and shared the 1965 Nobel Prize with Monod and André Lwoff. Jacob and Monod jointly developed the model explaining how bacteria regulate groups of genes.

Allosteric regulation: Allosteric regulation occurs when a molecule binds a protein at one site and changes its activity at another. Monod’s work on enzyme behavior helped establish allostery as a general mechanism of biological regulation.
