James Clark Ross

James Clark Ross was a British Royal Navy officer and polar explorer who led Antarctic expeditions and discovered the Ross Sea and Ross Ice Shelf.

Ross Sea: A deep embayment of the Southern Ocean bordered by Antarctica and the Ross Ice Shelf. Ross discovered and named this Antarctic sea during his 1841 expedition.
HMS Erebus (1826): A Royal Navy bomb vessel that served as a polar exploration ship under James Clark Ross. Ross used Erebus as the lead vessel on his Antarctic expedition.
