James Fisk

James Fisk (1835–1872) was an American financier and railroad executive whose alliance with Jay Gould shaped the Erie War and the 1869 gold-market crisis.

Erie War: A struggle in the 1860s among Cornelius Vanderbilt, Daniel Drew, Jay Gould, and James Fisk for control of the Erie Railway. Fisk and Gould used contested stock issues and political influence to resist Vanderbilt’s takeover.
