James J. Hill

James J. Hill (1838–1916) was an American railroad executive who built the Great Northern Railway, connecting the Great Lakes region to the Pacific Northwest.

Great Northern Railway: An American transcontinental railroad completed in 1893, linking the Great Lakes region with Puget Sound. Hill built and controlled this line, his defining achievement.
Seattle: A Pacific Northwest port city in Washington, founded in 1851. The Great Northern’s arrival in 1893 strengthened Seattle’s rail connection to eastern markets.
J. P. Morgan: An American financier who led major banking and industrial reorganizations in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Morgan partnered with Hill in the Northern Securities consolidation.
