Janis Joplin

Janis Joplin (1943–1970) was an American singer whose raw, blues-influenced vocals made her a defining performer of 1960s rock. She performed with Big Brother and the Holding Company and as a solo artist.

Big Brother and the Holding Company: An American rock band with which Joplin rose to prominence in the 1960s. The band’s 1967 Monterey Pop Festival performance brought Joplin national attention.
