Japanese invasions of Korea (1592–1598)

A pair of Japanese campaigns against Korea, launched by Toyotomi Hideyoshi in 1592 and renewed in 1597, that ended with Japanese withdrawal in 1598.

Battle of Busan: A 1592 Japanese victory that secured the landing point and initial foothold for the invasion of Korea. The campaign began with Japanese forces capturing this key port.
Toyotomi Hideyoshi: A Japanese military and political leader who unified much of Japan and ruled from 1585 until his death in 1598. He ordered the campaigns as part of his plan to conquer Ming China.
