Japanese nationalism

Japanese nationalism comprises political ideas and movements that emphasize Japan’s national unity, identity, sovereignty, or interests. Its forms have ranged from civic and imperial projects to postwar constitutional and cultural movements.

Meiji Restoration: The 1868 political transformation that ended Tokugawa rule and established imperial government in Japan. The new state used centralization and reform to build a modern national identity.
