Damdami Taksal : A Sikh religious institution devoted to scripture, preaching, and the training of Sikh teachers. Bhindranwale led this institution, which supplied his religious authority and platform.
Operation Blue Star : A June 1984 Indian military operation to remove armed militants from the Golden Temple complex in Amritsar. Bhindranwale died during the operation, which became the defining event of his public legacy.
