Joaquim Chissano

Joaquim Chissano is a Mozambican politician who served as president from 1986 to 2005 and helped negotiate the end of Mozambique’s civil war.

Samora Machel: Samora Machel was the first president of independent Mozambique, serving from 1975 until his death in 1986. Chissano succeeded Machel as president after Machel died in a plane crash.
