Joel Teitelbaum

Joel Teitelbaum (1887–1979) was a Hungarian-born Hasidic rabbi who rebuilt Satmar Hasidism after the Holocaust and led its postwar community from New York.

Moshe Teitelbaum: Moshe Teitelbaum (1914–2006) was a Satmar Rebbe who succeeded his uncle Joel as leader of the Hasidic dynasty. His succession carried Joel’s authority into a new generation.
Satmar Hasidism: Satmar Hasidism is a Hasidic movement founded in the Hungarian town of Satu Mare and later centered in New York. Joel transformed this movement into a major postwar Hasidic community.
