Johann Eck

Johann Eck (1486–1543) was a German Catholic theologian and disputant who opposed Martin Luther and defended papal authority during the Protestant Reformation.

Martin Luther: A German theologian whose challenges to Catholic teaching helped launch the Protestant Reformation. Eck confronted Luther in debate and pressed him to address the authority of popes and church councils.
