John Arbuthnot

John Arbuthnot (1667–1735) was a Scottish physician, mathematician, and satirist who created the political character John Bull and joined the Scriblerus circle.

Jonathan Swift: An Irish satirist and essayist whose works include Gulliver’s Travels and A Modest Proposal. Swift was Arbuthnot’s close collaborator in the Scriblerus circle and a frequent correspondent.
