John II Komnenos

John II Komnenos was Byzantine emperor from 1118 to 1143. He strengthened imperial authority and campaigned in Anatolia and the Balkans to recover territory.

Siege of Nicaea (1117): A Byzantine siege that ended with the surrender of Nicaea to Emperor Alexios I Komnenos in 1117. The city’s surrender secured John’s succession before his reign began.
