John James Audubon

John James Audubon was an American ornithologist, naturalist, and painter known for depicting North American birds in his monumental book The Birds of America.

The Birds of America: A four-volume collection of life-size prints depicting North American birds, published between 1827 and 1838. This landmark publication contains the bird portraits that made Audubon famous.
Bird study skin: A preserved bird specimen prepared primarily for scientific study rather than display. Study skins offered a durable reference for comparing bird anatomy and plumage.
