John Kenneth Galbraith

John Kenneth Galbraith (1908–2006) was a Canadian-born American economist, diplomat, and public intellectual. His books examined corporate power, consumer society, and the role of government in modern capitalism.

The Affluent Society: John Kenneth Galbraith’s 1958 book argues that private affluence coexists with neglected public services. This book introduced his contrast between abundant private goods and underfunded public needs.
Advertising: Paid communication intended to promote a product, service, organization, or idea. Galbraith argued that advertising helps produce the wants that consumer markets appear to meet.
John Maynard Keynes: A British economist whose work reshaped macroeconomics and influenced government responses to economic downturns. Galbraith worked within the Keynesian tradition and defended a substantial role for public policy.
