John L. Sullivan

John L. Sullivan was an American heavyweight boxer who became the first widely recognized gloved heavyweight champion and the last bare-knuckle champion under the London Prize Ring Rules.

John L. Sullivan vs. Jake Kilrain: The 1889 heavyweight prizefight in which Sullivan defeated Jake Kilrain after 75 rounds under London Prize Ring Rules. This grueling victory made Sullivan the last heavyweight champion crowned in a major bare-knuckle contest.
