John Logie Baird

John Logie Baird was a Scottish engineer and inventor who developed an early working television system and demonstrated color television.

Mechanical television: Television systems that form and display images using mechanical scanning devices rather than electronic image sensors. Baird’s early television system used rotating disks to scan and reproduce images.
Image scanning: The process of converting a two-dimensional image into a sequence of signals or display elements. Baird’s apparatus translated images into successive lines for transmission.

Selenium: A chemical element whose electrical conductivity changes in response to light. Selenium’s photosensitivity made it useful in early television image pickup.
