John McCrae

John McCrae (1872–1918) was a Canadian physician, soldier, and poet whose poem “In Flanders Fields” became a defining work of remembrance for the First World War.

In Flanders Fields: A 1915 poem by John McCrae that depicts poppies growing among First World War graves and calls the living to continue the struggle. This poem made McCrae a lasting voice of wartime remembrance.
