John Pym

John Pym (1584–1643) was an English politician who led parliamentary opposition to Charles I and helped drive the crisis that began the English Civil War.

Charles I of England: King of England, Scotland, and Ireland from 1625 until his execution in 1649. Pym organized resistance to Charles’s rule and policies in Parliament.
Grand Remonstrance: A 1641 parliamentary statement listing grievances against Charles I’s government and proposing reforms. Pym helped secure its adoption as a public indictment of royal policy.
