Joseph Campbell

Joseph Campbell (1904–1987) was an American writer and lecturer who compared myths across cultures and popularized the monomyth, or hero’s journey.

Comparative mythology: The study of similarities and differences among myths from different cultures. Campbell used cross-cultural comparison to argue that myths share recurring structures.
