Joseph Dalton Hooker

Joseph Dalton Hooker (1817–1911) was an English botanist and explorer whose plant-geography research and support for Charles Darwin helped shape nineteenth-century biology.

Charles Darwin: Charles Darwin was an English naturalist who developed the theory of evolution by natural selection. Hooker became one of Darwin’s closest scientific allies and helped secure the public presentation of natural selection.
