Joseph Karo

Joseph Karo (1488–1575) was a Sephardic rabbi and legal scholar whose Shulchan Aruch became a foundational code of Jewish law.

Shulchan Aruch: A sixteenth-century code of Jewish law compiled by Joseph Karo and organized around practical rulings. Karo’s best-known work distilled his legal decisions into a compact code.
