Joseph Merrick

Joseph Merrick (1862–1890), known as the Elephant Man, was an Englishman with severe physical deformities who was publicly exhibited before receiving care at London Hospital.

Frederick Treves: Frederick Treves was a British surgeon who met Merrick in London and arranged his admission to London Hospital. Treves’s account shaped the enduring story of Merrick’s discovery and hospital care.
