Josiah Wedgwood

Josiah Wedgwood (1730–1795) was an English potter and entrepreneur who founded the Wedgwood pottery company and helped industrialize British ceramics.

Creamware: A durable, cream-colored earthenware refined in eighteenth-century England. Wedgwood’s improved creamware became a bestselling product and earned royal patronage.
Etruria, Staffordshire: A pottery works and model industrial settlement founded by Josiah Wedgwood near Stoke-on-Trent. Wedgwood designed Etruria to bring production and workers together at a purpose-built site.
Thomas Bentley: A Liverpool merchant and Wedgwood’s business partner from 1769 until Bentley’s death in 1780. Bentley managed London sales and helped shape the company’s marketing and cultural image.
