Juba

Juba is the capital and largest city of South Sudan, located on the White Nile. It is the country’s political and administrative center.

White Nile: The eastern headstream of the Nile, flowing north from the Great Lakes region through Sudan. Juba stands on its banks, where the river shapes transport and settlement.
Government of South Sudan: The national government established after South Sudan became independent in 2011. Its executive institutions are based in Juba.
South Sudanese independence: The establishment of the Republic of South Sudan as an independent state on 9 July 2011. Juba became the new country’s capital at independence.
