Judah ha-Nasi

Judah ha-Nasi was a Jewish sage and patriarch who led the rabbinic community in Roman Palestine around the turn of the third century. He is traditionally credited with redacting the Mishnah.

Mishnah: The foundational rabbinic compilation of Jewish oral law, redacted around the beginning of the third century. Judah is traditionally credited with organizing this collection into its enduring form.
Oral tradition: Knowledge transmitted through speech, performance, and memory rather than primarily through writing. Mishnaic teachings circulated orally before and alongside their compilation.
