Jules Hardouin-Mansart

Jules Hardouin-Mansart (1646–1708) was a French architect who served Louis XIV as chief architect and superintendent of royal buildings. His work shaped Versailles and included the Dome of Les Invalides in Paris.

Palace of Versailles: A French royal residence expanded under Louis XIV into a vast palace and seat of government. Its major late-seventeenth-century expansions became Hardouin-Mansart’s defining commissions.
