Justo José de Urquiza

Justo José de Urquiza was an Argentine provincial leader and general who defeated Juan Manuel de Rosas at the Battle of Caseros in 1852 and later became Argentina’s first constitutional president.

Battle of Caseros: The 1852 battle in which Urquiza’s forces defeated Juan Manuel de Rosas’s army. Urquiza’s victory here ended Rosas’s dominance and began a struggle over national organization.
