Kagera River

The Kagera River is a major East African river that flows through or borders Burundi, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Uganda before entering Lake Victoria. It is the lake’s principal river inflow.

Ruvubu River: A river in Burundi that joins the Nyabarongo to form the Kagera. Its confluence with the Nyabarongo marks the Kagera’s formation.
Kagera Basin: The drainage basin of the Kagera River, extending across several East African countries. It defines the full land area whose waters feed the river.
Kagera Region: An administrative region in northwestern Tanzania bordering Lake Victoria and Uganda. The river gives the region its name and forms part of its northern boundary.
Water Pollution: The contamination of water by substances that harm ecosystems or human use. Agricultural runoff and settlements can affect water quality across the basin.

Akagera National Park: A protected area in eastern Rwanda that includes lakes and wetlands in the Kagera basin. Its wetlands and lakes are part of the river’s regional ecosystem.
