Kamehameha II

Kamehameha II, born Liholiho, was the second king of the Kingdom of Hawaii, reigning from 1819 until his death in 1824. His rule began with the end of the kapu system and saw the arrival of Christian missionaries.

Kapu system: A system of sacred rules and prohibitions that structured traditional Hawaiian social and religious life. Its abolition early in his reign transformed religious authority and social practice.
Kamehameha I: The monarch who unified the Hawaiian Islands and founded the Kingdom of Hawaii. His death in 1819 brought his son Liholiho to the throne.
Kamehameha III: The third king of the Kingdom of Hawaii, who reigned from 1825 to 1854. His younger brother succeeded him after his death.
