Killifish

Killifish are small egg-laying fishes, mostly in the order Cyprinodontiformes, that inhabit freshwater and coastal waters. Many species are known for brightly colored males, short life cycles, or adaptations to temporary pools.

Cyprinodontiformes: An order of ray-finned fishes that includes killifishes, pupfishes, livebearers, and related groups. Most killifish belong to this order, which provides their main taxonomic context.
