Kimpa Vita

Kimpa Vita was a Kongolese religious leader who founded the Antonian movement and sought to reunify the Kingdom of Kongo in the early 18th century.

Kingdom of Kongo: A Central African kingdom founded in the late 14th century, whose rulers adopted Christianity in the 15th century. Its divided throne and territories were the political reality Kimpa Vita sought to overcome.
Antonian movement: A Christian renewal movement founded by Kimpa Vita that called for spiritual and political unity in Kongo. It carried her teachings and reunification program beyond her own life.
