King Wen of Zhou

King Wen of Zhou was a Zhou ruler whose alliances and political reforms laid the foundations for overthrowing the Shang dynasty. His son King Wu completed the conquest and founded Zhou rule.

Zhou dynasty: A Chinese dynasty that ruled after overthrowing the Shang, conventionally dated from about 1046 to 256 BCE. King Wen’s political foundations enabled the dynasty his son established.
