Kingdom of Gwynedd

The Kingdom of Gwynedd was a medieval Welsh polity in northwestern Wales, ruled by dynasties that made it a leading center of Welsh power until its conquest by Edward I in 1283.

Roman withdrawal from Britain: The end of Roman imperial rule in Britain during the early fifth century. Its aftermath reshaped the political landscape from which Gwynedd emerged.
Rhodri the Great: A ninth-century ruler who united much of Wales and ruled Gwynedd. His power made Gwynedd a base for wider Welsh leadership.
