Knowra Kingdom of Nri Kingdom of Nri The Kingdom of Nri was a precolonial Igbo polity centered on Nri in present-day southeastern Nigeria. Its influence rested on ritual authority and religious networks rather than a centralized army.
Eze Nri : The priest-king of Nri, whose authority was chiefly spiritual and ritual rather than military. The Eze Nri embodied the polity’s sacred authority and presided over its central rites.
Igbo people : An ethnic group indigenous chiefly to southeastern Nigeria, with diverse communities, languages, and political traditions. Nri was one distinctive polity within the wider Igbo world.
Igu Aro : An annual Nri ceremony associated with the renewal and proclamation of the Igbo calendar. The ceremony made Nri’s calendar authority publicly visible.
