Kingdom of Strathclyde

A Brittonic kingdom centered on Dumbarton Rock that held territory across what is now southwestern Scotland and northwestern England from the early Middle Ages until the 11th century.

Britons (historical): Brittonic-speaking peoples who inhabited much of Britain before and during the early Middle Ages. Strathclyde’s ruling population and political traditions belonged to the Brittonic world.
Dunadd: A fortified hilltop in Argyll associated with the early kingdom of Dál Riata. Its position illustrates the competing royal centers around Strathclyde’s western approaches.
