Kitarō Nishida

Kitarō Nishida was a Japanese philosopher and founder of the Kyoto School. His philosophy developed ideas such as pure experience and the logic of place through engagement with Zen Buddhism and Western philosophy.

Pure experience: An undivided state of experience prior to distinctions between subject and object. Nishida’s early philosophy treats this as the starting point for knowledge and reality.
