Kleiber's law

Kleiber's law is an empirical relationship in which an animal’s basal metabolic rate scales approximately with body mass to the three-quarter power.

Metabolic rate: The rate at which an organism uses energy through metabolic processes. Kleiber's law describes how basal metabolic rate changes as body mass increases.
Max Kleiber: A Swiss-born agricultural scientist known for research on animal nutrition and metabolism. His measurements and 1932 analysis helped establish the named scaling relationship.
