Khanate of Kokand

The Khanate of Kokand was a Central Asian state centered on the Fergana Valley from the early 18th century until its annexation by the Russian Empire in 1876.

Fergana Valley: A fertile, densely populated valley in Central Asia, now divided among Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan. The valley’s agricultural wealth and strategic position formed the khanate’s core.
Khan: A title for a ruler or military leader used across Central and Inner Asia. The khan stood at the apex of Kokand’s political hierarchy.
